The NVvR, the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Rechtspraak (in English: Dutch Association for the Judiciary) was founded in 1923 and has its seat in The Hague. The membership of the NVvR is open to all members of the Dutch judiciary (i.e. public prosecutors and judges) as well as trainee judicial officers. About 75 percent of the judiciary are members of the NVvR. Since 1957 the NVvR has been officially recognised by the government as the organisation which represents the whole of the Dutch judiciary.
