On behalf of the Higher Education Drechtsteden partnership, Redept conducted contract negotiations for approximately 2,000 m² of educational space for the Kopgebouw on the Smart Campus Leerpark in Dordrecht.
Dordrecht Academy and Career Boost will be located here. Dordrecht Academy will offer two-year higher vocational education (Associate degree) that are tailored to the personnel needs of companies and public institutions in the region. Career Boost offers bachelor students of the affiliated universities of applied sciences the opportunity to participate in challenging education and research projects related to innovation questions from companies in the region.
Higher Education Drechtsteden is a partnership of Hogeschool Rotterdam, Hogeschool Inholland, Christelijke Hogeschool Ede, Avans Hogeschool and Da Vinci College. Together, these institutions are responding to the call from municipalities and companies to strengthen and expand higher education in the region. The location in the Kopgebouw is an expression of the partnership’s ambition to focus strongly on this in the coming years and the desire to also firmly connect with the related vocational education of Da Vinci College.
Redept carried out contract negotiations for a long-term lease for approximately 2,000 m² in the multi-tenant building, which will be completed in early 2023. Smart Campus Leerpark arose at the end of the 1990s on the one hand from the need to make optimum use of the limited space in the municipality of Dordrecht and on the other from the idea that education can only connect to ‘practice’ if practice is involved in education. The municipality, schools for secondary and tertiary education, companies and housing associations are working together to promote the campus by enabling encounters that connect and inspire. The so-called ‘Kopgebouw’ is being developed and managed by Kadans Science Partners as an initiative of the municipality.
Higher Education Drechtsteden
Higher Education Drechtsteden has been in development since 2019. The affiliated educational institutions work closely with the regional business community and the municipality of Dordrecht to realise demand-driven higher education that is in line with the specific characteristics of the region. Dordrecht Academy is expected to grow to about 2,000 students. Career Boost wants to offer 1,500 students a minor, graduation assignment and/or research assignment every year.
At the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences there are around 39,000 students and some 4,000 staff. The education offer consists of a wide assortment in all sectors, except agricultural. The education is closely alligned with urban developments in the Rotterdam region.
