More than 20 interested parties from the real estate world, including Redept, have taken the intiative, jointly with the NEN to develop a norm that on the one hand helps real estate occupiers in compiling their requirements and on the other hand helps real estate suppliers to reflect those requirements in their products.

In the real estate world it is clearly noticeable that, partly because of increasing vacancy and attention for new ways of working, the occupier is now increasingly the central focus.  The new NEN 8021 should in the future, by clearly defining the required and actual performance of real estate, be a guarantee for the optimum agreement between the occupier and the real estate supply.  Interpretations of building performance will be normalised in one and the same language.  This makes a wider application possible between different commercial buildings and more parties.

The norm will be offered to Mr. F. Azarkan, director real estate of the Government Buildings Service, and Mr. A. van Dien, deputy director real estate of the Defence Real Estate Service, at the PROVADA in the RAI Amsterdam at 10:30 today.  Together with the Hague University of Applied Sciences, Twijnstra Gudde, Royal HaskoningDHV and NEN these organisations formed the core team that for the most part have created the norm. This is the start of the public consultation round where everyone that is professionally interested in this norm may offer criticism of the draft.

The norm is of interest to all parties that come into contact with real estate and accommodation including owners, occupiers, property managers, financiers, architects and developers. The norm can ve viewed at www.normontwerpen.nen.nl. For detailed information you can contact Leon van Leersum of Redept or Marc Mergeay of NEN, telephone (015) 2 690 367, e-mail marc.mergeay@nen.nl.
