The monumental Villa Klondike was built in 1878 and fully modernised in 2007. Towards the end of World War II, the building served as headquarters for the 501st Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division during Operation Market Garden. “Klondike” was the regiment’s radio code name, hence its name. The villa features the 101st Airborne Division’s emblem (the “Screaming Eagle”), which is illuminated every evening.
