Van Wijnen purchases the former storage and parking lot of Alliander in Camminghaburen, Leeuwarden.
Alliander has consolidated and renovated its regional office in Friesland on part of the former site of the Provincial Energy Company (PEB) in the Camminghaburen district, on the east side of Leeuwarden. Redept already sold part of the former PEB office to BlueZone Wonen in 2021 and subsequently started the sales process for a building plot of approximately 2.5 hectares. This plot consisted of the former parking lot, part of the training area and a storage warehouse.
A two-step process was designed for the sale, in which parties were first invited to present their vision for the redevelopment. Based on this – and taking into account the spatial requirements of the municipality – three parties were selected to submit a bid. This process led to the selection of Van Wijnen as the intended buyer. Redept guided the negotiations with Van Wijnen, which resulted in the signing of a purchase agreement. Vendr, an automated sales portal, was used for the sales process.
Van Wijnen will realise an integral area development with 61 single-family homes and an apartment building with 32 units. Together with the development of BlueZone Wonen, almost 200 residential units will eventually be realised on the site. Alliander will continue to be present at the location in the future with its renovated regional office.
Redept is clear in its formulation and pays attention to the interests of the parties in the process. In doing so, it uses clear legal frameworks and does not neglect to discuss issues that are unclear. The result that was achieved fully met the objective and an optimisation was also achieved in respect of previous agreements in the project. The legal aspects were completed in a very satisfactory manner.
