De huurprijsaanpassing was standaard gekoppeld aan de consumentenprijsindex (CPI). Huurprijzen werden hierdoor als uitgangspunt gedurende de looptijd van het contract automatisch verhoogd met de inflatie.&#xA0;Het opnemen van automatische huurprijsaanpassingen in (algemene bepalingen van) modelcontracten is in strijd met artikel 6 van de Mededingingswet, omdat via de brancheorganisatie of ondernemersvereniging dan de mededinging wordt beperkt. Met de nieuwe standaardbepalingen kunnen huurders en verhuurders onderling afspraken maken over huurprijsaanpassingen.</description></oembed>
